Wow, you exceeded the number of package names this APT is capable of
hi,
Does anybody know a fix for this ?
Cheers
Dave
I found this via google, but aint tried it:
solution to fix it is just increase the value APT::Cache-Limit at the /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/70debconf.
sudo gedit /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/70debconf.
Then put this code
APT::Cache-Limit "100000000";
at the below on that file and then save it.
Next typing this code on your terminal
sudo apt-get clean && sudo apt-get update --fix-missing
and you won’t find apt cache limit again in the next time.

me too!
I was just searching for a fix for this same thing! I would try your suggestion above, but that's way too above my head. I've never messed with that terminal stuff. If there are any other solutions or ideas to remedy this, please pass them on. Thanks in advance.

Are you serious ?
You got a solution because someone else was so nice to post a fix and you are to lazy or just wont to learn a bit to extend your personal skills and to fix your issue.
Mobile terminal is an easy to use interface to fic certain issues that unlikely can be fixed that easy as already posted.
This seems only complicated and as far as i can see it is done in less then 5 minutes.
I wont offense you but you really should consider to use the already given solution and you will be proud on yourself if you fixed it on your own according to the described tutorial .

Wow, I thought this site and others like it were made to help others, not to insult or insinuate laziness! I will try to be the better person and not point out the poor writing skills and spelling in the above post. No, I am not lazy, just worried that I will mess up my phone more than it already is. I am pretty well educated already about my phone, but do plan on learning more when I am able to have time to myself, instead of raising my grandson with special needs, working fulltime and taking care of mulitple other issues. By the way, I've fixed my phone already.

It helps if people use search on here and you would have found the solution!!
All you need to do is start cydia and delete some sources !! if you have too many it will have trouble?
In cydia go to manage and sources and delete any you do not use!!

What?
Again : Are you serious ?
There is a solution from somebody that was willing to help you .But you are too lazy or whatever your problem is that you simply rejected the offered solution aaaand you are pretending that we or iam an unfriendly guy just because i counted here some facts .
The problem is on your site ,iam not the problem here.
Anyway good you fixed it ,this save us any further discussion that would lead to nowhere after all - according to your last post!
That's very good in my eyes.

Nevermind I solve the problem yerterday. What I did was go into safe mode then launch cydia and delete most of the sources that I had added which I never install any thing ini it. After I delete most of the sources it suddenly show me there is some upgrade so I just hit upgrade and boot into normal mode. Now everything is back to normal except one thing very funny is under iphone settings the parts where I have those like nike box just don't know why went into the middle and those like action menu, etc went to the bottom. Other then that everything seem to be working properly again. I can see all my packages that I have installed and also everything is back like normal. But I really never know that by adding too many sources will caused this problem. This is the first time I got this problem. INow I only keep a few sources I need and I will never add any new sources again man. Thanks for all your help. Cheers eddietah

Same thing happened to me on my iPad 2.
If u don't have it, download i-funbox to your pc and open it with your device plugged in and iTunes open.
Open these in order by double clicking... 1-raw system files. 2-etc. 3-apt. 4-sources.list.d
Right click on the sources u don't need and delete until cydia will open.
U can use it while working in I-funbox.
---------- EDIT ----------
U can also use ifile.
Go to var/lib/apt/lists
Use edit to delete sources

Hi Wolfsstolz,
Sorry that i write my text in German, i hope it is okay when not please let me know and i don't do it again. I sayed only thanks to him and that i would try it. I didn't used my english skills for a long time and i don't wanna write totally wrong at such a specific topic.

As stated I had this prob a couple of times and deleted some repos!
But I have also turned of a lot of skin packages in the packages section under edit and if on turn off
I don't use skins and some repos have over a 1000 so if off I can add more repos :-)
