Apple Issues invites for iPhone 5 event on September 12

The Loop reports that Apple has just sent out invitations for a media event scheduled for next week Wednesday, September 12. The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM Pacific / 1:00 PM Eastern. The tagline on the invitation is simply "It's almost here."

Apple is of course expected to introduce the next-generation iPhone and give a final preview of iOS 6 at the event. Apple's "iPad mini" is reportedly also nearing a launch, but sources have indicated that Apple is planning a second media event for October to introduce that product. Apple's iPod lineup is also rumored to be seeing an update at one of the two events, while rumored iMac updates and the launch of a 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro are likely to appear separately.

There's clearly a "5" in the shadow of the invitation, suggesting that Apple's next iPhone will indeed be called the iPhone 5.

It's about time. I'm debating on whether I should pre-order it, or camp outside of the Apple store nearby (just for the experience). Either way, I'm due for an upgrade, so I'll be watching the keynote on the 12th. I hope this doesn't disappoint.

Hmmm... Iphone 5.
- Longer screen. Worse form factor since I won't be able to use my thumb span to go from top to bottom of the screen.
- New metal back.
- New PIN connector rendering all your cables and accessories on 25-Pin, obsolete.
- Gorilla Glass 2
- IOS 6 with Apple Maps& Nav (only available on Iphone 5)
- Maybe slightly improved battery life.

The longer screen one is the biggest pisser of them all. I like having my thumb be able to reach all four corners of the phone's screen.

No, the iPhone 5 is merely announced on the 12th. If the rumors hold true, then its release date will be the 21st.

It was to sell 4s before price falls meanwhile buy Galaxy S3 for a taste of best what android got to offer, and now i should be about to sell s3 and get in queue for new IPhone5...Heh.
