Ok so is my phone screwed ?

I have been given a 3GS from a friend to try and jailbreak and I'm guessing somebody else has had a go.

There is no wifi, bluetooth or phone network. Ive looked around and its suggested that this phone has had its baseband flashed with the iPad one and screwed it up !

I've tried redsn0w sn0wbreeze different firmwares but only have 4.1 and 6.0 blobs although I made a 5.1.1 custom firmware with sn0wbreeze and it loaded but won't restore or upgrade. I think he would be happy without the jailbreak and just get it on fw 6.0. I have had loads of different iTunes restore errors. I have used tu, ireb, redsn0w to kick it into a state where it can be recovered but everything I try doesn't work to get Bluetooth, wifi or phone network kicked in and working .

Im guessing its screwed then ?

I'm assuming that you tried restoring it in itunes while the phone is in recovery mode?

I doubt that the phone is screwed. If it fires up, there should be a way to get it all going.

have you ever tried to re-flash the baseband. you should try it and see if it will get the network and bluetooth working again. sound like, who ever had it, tried to restore to a stock firmware on baseband 06.15. that causes the baseband to become corrupted. so you will need to re-flash it to fix the problem.

I would keep trying to flash it. You need to get the corrupted BB fixed. At some point try to downgrade and get rid of that debilitating iPad BB altogether. You can try the Reddsnow BB downgrade but I think you need the curuption fixed first.

Yeah it's not blocked its the baseband that's corrupted. A wonderful iPod would be a step up from what I've got keeping my papers from flying away

Try a few versions of redsnow that will update bb

Also if you grt it fixed and get to ios6 it should be untethered being its old bootrom

Nearly given up now and gonna chuck the fucking thing against wall. Tried other redsn0ws and stitched no bb custom firmware but it won't fucking av it

try to restore to ios 4.1 custom firmware. than re-flash it with redsn0w. i had this same problem when i had a iphone 3gs bb 06.15. after sreaching i run across this one site, i forgot what it was called, this was last year sometime. it was dealing with corrupted ipad baseband on a iphone 3gs, i forgot most of it but im sure it mention something about restoring to 4.1, re-flash it and it will fix the problem. after that, than use that new redsn0w tool to downgrade ur baseband.

dont give up, keep trying. its gonna work out, its just a bad baseband problem. if it boots up with out a problem, its still a good idevice.

nup its not working i think i have tried everything but just stuck with a 3gs on custom firmware 5.1.1 with sn0wbreeze with no carrier network, bluetooth or wifi just a big dumb ass ipod that keeps rebooting. I hate fuckin apple for making it soooooo friggin difficult to restore an iphone

Pwned dfu mode is required to restore with stitched 5.1.1 fw

Use sn0wbreeze to create the firmware with iPad Baseband.
Also use The built in ireb for pwn'd DFU mode.

If the Firmware update fails near the end, use tiny umbrella to kick it out of recovery mode.
The phone will start up as normal.

Tried this in fact the phone will only take snowbreeze custom fw and using ireb but it will not take the ipad baseband

well I dont know what the fuck happened but when I switched the phone back on in work this morning it came up with the friggin lot and a baseband of 5.16.02. Not sure what network its on as I must have the wrong SIM in it but at least its started working again. Probably best I dont try and upgrade to 6.0 then and screw it up even more

mmmm doesnt give me the option to downgrade the baseband is this because im on 05.16.02 ???

Tried reinstalling ipad baseband and fucked it again !!!!!!!!!!
