Deleting photos via ifile

Hey all,

A quick google suggested that if I deleted /var/mobile/media/DCIM/ via ifile it would delete my pictures.

I just removed all but one of the folders from /var/mobile/media/DCIM/ and it just freed up 13 GB on my phone!!!

But when I go into camera roll I still see some 6500 pictures. Basically all the pictures are still there but when I click on them they don't work.

How do I get camera roll to update or how do I get rid of all the pics I don't need?
(already rebooted and respring)

---------- EDIT ----------

I must add that all the pictures that I don't want there are blurry!

I could delete them one by one but that takes ages
there must be a file somewhere that I can delete to get rid of them

Hi, i think crapple use to do a Small thumbnail pic of....ALL pics you save or take(wondering why,eh?).
Meaning when you think you have a pic in your device, you have it twice if not more.
It what ive seen few ios back but i guess it still the case.

However, i dont know how to get rid off them all at once.

Cheers

Nope....I can tell you now that you'll have to go into the Photo's app and delete all the ones you dont need one-by-one. Maybe there's a Cydia tweak called PhotoAlbums+ or something like that and it 'might' have an option to delete all.

Shoutout to x73x for the awesome signature!

Hey I think i got an idea for you. Not sure if this is just already stock in the iphones (but maybe unknown) or if its from a cydia tweak i have called "photo organizer"

If you go to your photos.app and then click "edit" on the top right, and then click the red check mark on the top left it will select ALL the pictures your album and allow you to delete them all at once.

Hope this helps

It's much simpler...go to your pc and delete the folder "iPod Photo Cache" from your pictures however be warned your next sync may take longer

Any problems just restore the folder from your recycle bin and resync

To permanently delete photo on iPhone, you can use a iPhone data eraser, there are some iPhone data eraser software in the market, but few can be completely and permanently delete the data on iPhone, even if data has been cleared, some professional iPhone data recovery software can recover them later.
Please read this use guide about how to Permanently Erase iPhone Photo Before Selling your iPhone. So no one can get you personal information and data from iPhone, after you sell, donate or give it away.

I just found out an easy way to delete photos from iPhone not too long ago just by messing around with my phone. A very easy and fast way to do this is by first going to your photos and click on camera roll. Then click on edit located on the top right hand corner. Select a the photos you want to get rid of, and finally click the "delete" option, which is the 3rd one over at the bottom of your screen. P.s. you can also choose to save them to another photo file or share them via email or in a text message.
Read more about iPhone Data Eraser here.
