Yeah, I'm working on a new design at the moment.
I'll unveil it soon enough, and I'm trying to figure out a better system for the file management organization. Also a script that any user can upload files to it, get a download link...mimicking megaupload --- that or to sit in a folder and I can update the site accordingly.
I'm thinking of an apache based deal, where it just uploads everything to one directory or the user selects the appropriate location for what they are uploading ie .deb, .ipa, or Cracked Apps, Cydia Tweaks... Yadda yadda. Still haven't decided what I want for a database thats going to grow at an exponential rate.

Then you didn't follow the guide, if you did you wouldn't encounter the error as Apple is signing iOS 5.01.
The guide states at the top, if you do not want to read then DO NOT update.
Post your idiotic questions elsewhere, because the guide is straight forward and extremely simple to follow.

Im stuck in a boot loop tried ireb to get me out, followed the instructions to the T. I did my buddies Iphone 4 on 5.0.1 but i didnt select hactivate the phone, even though he does not have a att sim card. Should i put it back in DFU and attempt again? also redsnow is not recognizing my ios 5.0.1 firmware, and yes i used the stock firmware that i used to create my snowbreezed custom when asked where it was. any suggestion?
Edit: come to think of it, redsnow never recognizes my iPhone2,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw, i always have to use snowbreeze. im running windows xp btw

-Well you screwed up there, how are you going to get past activation?
also redsnow is not recognizing my ios 5.0.1 firmware
-Use the latest version of redsn0w, or a different computer.
If it was me, I'd start fresh or use a different computer and start fresh.
There is no issues with this guide what so ever, Apple is signing iOS 5.01, which means no restore errors...check your host file remove any iphone related entries (ie: gs.apple)

I'm very happy you are answering them!
When I put up the guide for upgrading to iOS 5, so many questions where asked that I hesitated creating this one.
Nice to have a partner!

Is your host file clear of the GS.apple.com 76.xxx.xxx.xx?
If it is there, thats why you cant restore.
ADDITIONALLY
Error 21
Custom firmware restore fail (PwnageTool since 4.1). You have to put your device into the DFU mode and not into recovery mode. Device won't boot correctly an stuck at the Apple logo after the error. Press and hold power and home button until it reboots.
Error when using Sauriks server for a restore with iOS 5.x in the recovery mode at least on a A5 device.
Error 11
Removed BBFW file in the firmware folder of an unzipped IPSW. Can also be used to prevent a baseband update. The device is bootable, if you set the auto-boot to true or use TinyUmbrella and use "Kick Device out of Recovery".
You are trying to update to a custom firmware from PwnageTool 4.1+. You always have to go into DFU mode and restore from there.
Error 1602
Restart computer; change computer; reinstall system.
If this error occured during an Apple TV restore, then unplug the Apple TV from the power cable, after you entered the recovery or DFU mode, and then try it again.
This means you didn't follow the guide, whats the point of posting the same shit if you cant follow a guide. DFU Mode is three steps, and its on screen instructions from the programs you use to update your device. We'll just give you the same answers the guide has. Read the entire guide, follow the directions, and enjoy your device.

Pls help me I'm an idiot, didn't check anything about jailbreaking and now have a paper weight.
You're beat, the 4.11.08 baseband isn't unlockable.
Look up "Gevey sim" on google, see if that's compatible with that baseband.

If you have the 4.3.5 shsh blobs, you can downwgrade it to 4.3.5 and the baseband will get downgraded to 04.10.01 also. Once you are successfull, you can unlock it using gevey card.

I followed this guide from top to bottom but I'm having a few issues. The main one is that I cannot open Cydia, Mail nor Safari. From everything I read those are only issues with a tethered jailbreak so I must of done something incorrectly. I'm guessing I don't need to do the activate or unlock section since I already have a service and was just upgrading to 5.0.1. Sorry if these questions were answered I just can't seem to find the answers after reading though.

Thanks for the guide. Is there no hope for a fix for the 6.15 locations services glitch?

Did another hard restart and all my problems were fixed. The only problem that exists currently is it only shows 1 bar of signal, which I read was a recurring problem with the redsnow 3b anyway. Also I need to figure out what my sources were for Cydia since it seems they weren't saved, lol.

I'm not sure what caused your issue but in my case, if I don't have service such as "Sim Invalid", "No Service", "Searching", "Sim failure", my cydia won't open and not only that.....all my 3rd party app won't work either and that include sbsettings even though the phone is connected to a wifi signal. But once I get the service back, everything work normal.
My suspicious is because we all created the custom firmware using sn0wbreeze for the tethered jailbreak with cydia already embedded in the custom firmware and we jailbreak it again using redsn0w. It may be different if we create a custom firmware just to preserve baseband and with no cydia embedded in the custom firmware then properly jailbreak it using redsn0w.
In the past, I always use TU to restore/upgrade my firmware to preserve baseband using apple original firmware, then properly do the untethered jailbreak accordingly.

Do I need to save my SHSH blobs before upgrading to 5.0.1, or should I just go ahead and upgrade?
I'm upgrading the iOS for my friend.

It's all depend. If you don't care about baseband or are using your phone on an official carrier like at&t then you can use the apple original firmware.
If you are on unoffcial carrier and depend on gevey card or ultrasn0w, then you probably want to check if you have the shsh for 4.3.5 or older. Right now, there's no way for you trying to save your shsh for previous firmware.
