Icon4 [AppleTV] Seas0nPass 0.8.2 - Signature Magic

Today we are happy to release a new version of Seas0nPass that simplifies the installation of older firmware versions. This process called 'stitching' allows Seas0nPass to utilize previously saved firmware signatures to jailbreak and restore an AppleTV version that Apple may no longer be signing.

What are signatures? Why do I need them?

Firmware signatures are required to install a particular firmware version onto iOS devices like the AppleTV. When installing the latest version, these signatures will be created in real-time during the iTunes restore process.

However, from time to time some firmware versions will stop being 'signed' by Apple, which will prevent them from being installed. Backing up your firmware signatures allows you to retain the ability to install an older firmware version in the future, should the need ever arise.

Firmware signatures are unique to each AppleTV and firmware version.

How do I backup my firmware signatures?

Details on backing up firmware signatures using TinyUmbrella or aTV Flash (black) can be found here.

How do I use Seas0nPass to install an older version?

If you have used TinyUmbrella or aTV Flash (black) to previously save your AppleTV's firmware signatures you can use Seas0nPass to downgrade to an older version by following the steps below.

Connect AppleTV via USB
Launch Seas0nPass
Right-click the 'Create IPSW' button and select your desired version.
Seas0nPass will handle fetching saved signatures and restoring the firmware automatically.

Seas0nPass is telling me that my AppleTV is not eligible. What does that mean?

If you're receiving a 'not eligible' message, this means Apple is no longer signing that particular version, and Seas0nPass was unable to locate any saved signatures for that device/firmware combination.

I have an iP4S 5.0.1 absinthe...

I have XBMC installed along with "Seas0nPass" (version before this new one) installed... along with "seatbelt" remover...

I have no idea what these two things do (do i even need to have these or is it just for Apple TV? which i understand runs the same iOS but 4.xx)
24 Months with AT&T service = $2500

24 Months with T-Mobile plan = $1450

Seas0nPass is only for aTV. It was the jailbreaking utility, now it also does the same kind of thing TinyUmbrella does but for aTV. Does that make sense at all?

This is for all apple tv firmware. It is like saving your shah blobs for your phone.

Seatbelt, also known as sandbox, is a kernel extension that restricts a set of features from being used for some processes...

I think it used to be a dependency with XBMC, but newer beta versions no longer need it, or already have it built in. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Hello there,

just a short question:

Does this version of season pass do same thing as ifaith?
Meaning: I stiched/saved my 4.4.4 firmware with the blobs and apticket with ifaith back in December!

So is this seasonpass doing the same trick? Or is there a difference which indicates I should use seasonpass instead?

Thx for explanation!

If you are already jailbroken just download the new version of Seas0nPass and follow the instructions under "How do I backup my firmware signatures?"

Is firmware 4.4.4 a good version to be on or are the older versions better for aTV?
I've just recently bought an aTV so I'm trying to learn the ropes.

I have been using it since it was untethered and haven't had a single problem.

I know originally plex was not compatible but I believe that has since been resolved.

So the current version I have on aTV 4.4.4 is fine. Do you recommend downgrading or just staying where I'm at?

If your already on it stick with it. Its a good firmware to be on. Get the latest XBMC beta 3 and some good plugins and that little black box becomes gold

Much appreciated. I actually forgot that I should save my shsh blob for my apple tv. Not doing this with my iPad had me waiting for the wonderful jailbreak that's out now. Thanks again.
