*UPDATED* 19/04/2013 Modded host file to remove Ads from Cydia, Safari plus More

Using iPhone file browser like Diskaid, Winscp or iFile
Im using iTools

Connect iPhone and Navigate to "/etc"

Now download this file:
Dropbox - Hosts.zip
unzip & replace with NEW "hosts" file

Repring and your done!

Also I advise navigating to:
Settings> Privacy> Location Services
Scroll to the bottom and click 'System Services'
And turn OFF Location based iAds.

My ads will differ to your ads based on our locations.
Disabling this will help me block ads overall.

No new icons will be added but hosts file will be changed to block ads


Will keep this file updated to block as many ads as i can please let me know what needs adding.

This host file has list of all sites that have ads. So it will block these ads. I promise it's 100% safe. Try it your see the difference.

Also in Cydia under sections hit the edit button in top right corner. You can disable stuff you won't use.
For example iPad wallpaper is not needed if you have an iPhone. Makes it load faster

Its the rough guideline i used to begin with, theres more IP been added to block more ads as the original was over 3 years out of date.

In theory the SBAdblock Toggle downloads a updated hosts and merges it with your user defined entries so its a little more automated, but my question is; does anyone know if SBAdblock still updating their hosts file, cause I notice a couple of ads in cydia that are not blocked?

Maybe you uploaded or linked the wrong file then. I did a Beyond Compare of the 2 files and the only differences is the comments at the top, everything else is line for line exactly the same.

Maybe, ill have to double check, ive got 3-4 hosts files, 1 works for pc/laptop other three are iphone.

you should put the file in a zip folder then reupload.

then people can download the zipped folder, ssh the zip into etc, change the name of the original host file to 1host or host.bak or whatever then extract the zip using ifile and then respring.

i downloaded with firefox and chrome and both converted it to a .txt file.

can you send me a copy of the host file in a zip via pm?

i had already replaced my hosts file with one from a forum id rather not name so i feel a lot better about having one modded by a sinful member

Ive tried a few adblockers and there very annoying, had sbsettings errors all the time

This file is clean and small so takes no space
Does the job well

Any ads please post in here so i can get them removed aswell
