Change you text and iMessage bubbles with Message Bubble Colors

A lot of people have been looking for a really good free cydia theme that change the colors of their text or imessage bubbles. So I decided to go and make one.

It includes 17 colors including the option to completely get rid of their text bubbles.

The colors include orange, pink, purple, blue, light blue, highlight blue (the color that is used when highlighting on a iphone), green, teal, turquoise, light purple, yellow, gray, black, white, hot pink, and the option to completely get rid of the bubbles.

So go onto cydia and download this awesome free theme by searching Message Bubble colors and download and apply with winterboard!

You have to replace the file SMSBackground.png with the one you want or you could make yourself a theme to use with winterboard by putting that picture (resized and renamed) in a folder with a .theme extension. Or you could look for a theme or app that will change it for you.

is there anyway i could just copy one of the above images and change just the sms color, i want to keep the imessage blue and get rid of that vomit green regular sms...im about to try it wish me luck

As long as you know what your doing it shouldn't be that hard. if not then you could mess up your phone

yeah i know how to do it i think but for some reason preview on my mac wont open the file in cyber duck, not sure if its because i updated to lion or what?

The images are optimized. There's an app out there that can change it back, iPhonePNGApp or something like that. I usually just save it to my camera roll via iFile and get it from there.

What colour do you want the sms bubble to be?

The bubble for sms is named as "Balloon_1@2x.png" and it is located in /System/Library/PrivateFramewoks/ChatKit.framewok/

Replace the existing one with your preferred one, Respring or reboot!


Had some spare time and made a guide for you. Here you go mate:

1. Save the color whichever you like here to your desktop
2. Change the file name as Balloon_1@2x.png (for sent messages) or Balloon_2@2x.png (for received messages)
3. SSH into your iPhone (make sure hidden files are visible) and go to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ChatKit.framework, now you can drag and drop the balloon file inside.
4. Restart your iPhone.

I don't know how you would do it manually but I'm sure there are themes on cydia that could do it for you
