Iphone 3gs restore help required

Hi all,

Ive had a iphone 3gs come through to me, no history is known.. Ive checked for any saved shsh blobs, but none saved unfortunately.

I've restored the iphone to official 4.1 firmware - restore completed but returned error 1002 - and it goes to the emergency call screen, in recovery mode. I've kicked it out of recovery using tiny umbrella but with no success to kick it out. goes back to emergency call screen.

i've checked error on the 'iphone wiki' website - but just shows the defination for error 1002 as error when restoring.

the following link is the update log from itunes:
Update Log - Pastebin.com

I've also ran the 'F0recast' tool, it shows the baseband as 05.14.02 so it doesn't have ipad bb! bootloader is 6.4 m3S2

Any suggestions to get bavk up and running?

Thanks

*Error 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014: These errors may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article. Also attempt to restore while connected with a known-good 30-pin Dock Connector cable, computer, and network to isolate this issue to the device. The MAC address being missing or the IMEI being the default value (00 499901 064000 0) can also confirm a hardware issue.*

i would do the following:

make or download custom 4.1 firmware

use snowbreez or redsnow , hit "extras" , id try both if necessary

"select IPSW" and find official 4.1 firmware

choose the "new bootrom" its likely what you have

follow steps enter pwnd dfu

load tiny umbrella and start tss server

load itunes and shift+restore to CUSTOM 4.1 firmware

I have tried your suggestion, but it returned error 2005 - according 'iphone wiki' site, it could probably be a hardware failure?

I tried the custom restore without running tss server - it restored successfully but again shows no modem firmware, wifi etc

is there anything else i can try?

Have you tried fixrecovery-win? TinyUmbrella won't work. I would do what jocef said:

"make or download custom 4.1 firmware

use snowbreez or redsnow , hit "extras" , id try both if necessary

"select IPSW" and find official 4.1 firmware

choose the "new bootrom" its likely what you have

load tiny umbrella and start tss server

load itunes and shift+restore to CUSTOM 4.1 firmware"

and then use fixrecovery-win. I think there was some weird issue with fixrecovery-win that if the program wouldn't run, you need to add some zlib1.dll to the same folder and then run the program. Google it. But this fixed my same issue last year.

But i'm no longer in recovery? I've followed Jocef's advice the custom 4.1 firmware has been installed on the device - but with the following problems:

* network is searching....
* no wifi/modem firmware/baseband displayed

I have tried your suggestion, but still no luck.. I've also reflashed the baseband to the ipad 6.15.00 in hope of it bringing some life, but still made no difference.

Still have blank wifi, imei & bluetooth...

any idea's anyone? or is this the end of life for the device?

Should just restore to the latest iOS and have a tether jailbreak and hopefully SAM still works to unlock if needed.

Have already tried that but it still showed no network, Wifi, bluetooth or imei.

Looks like the device is buggered for good

you can only update to 5.0.1 if you have shsh blobs saved, check using Tiny Umbrella. If you have not blobs saved for your device, then you will not be able to have 5.0.1 as apple has stopped signing them, your only choice will be either to stay on 4.3.3 or update to 5.1.

however, if you update to 5.1 you will either have tethered jailbreak or untethered jailbreak, depending on whether your device is newboot or oldboot rom.. if its newboot then you will have tethered jailbreak meaning that you will have to boot tethered each time your restart your iphone or turn off and on again... if its old boot rom then you will have a untethered jailbreak. Hope that helps.
