Apple has released iOS 5.1.1 which brings several improvements including bug fixes for AirPlay playback, iPad network switching, HDR photos, bookmark syncing and more.
This update contains improvements and bug fixes, including::
• Improves reliability of using HDR option for photos taken using the Lock Screen shortcut
• Addresses bugs that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks
• Fixes bugs that affected AirPlay video playback in some circumstances
• Improved reliability for syncing Safari bookmarks and Reading List
• Fixes an issue where ‘Unable to purchase’ alert could be displayed after successful purchase
Step 2: Connect your device to your computer, place your device into DFU mode, and run RedSn0w.
Step 3: Go to Extras > Select IPSW > and point to your iOS 5.1 firmware for this device.
Step 4: Once RedSn0w successfully identifies the 5.1 firmware, head back to the main page of RedSn0w and click Jailbreak.
Step 5: Once it identifies the build, click Next where it asks you to install Cydia.
Step 6: Cydia will be installed, and your device will reboot. Upon reboot, place the device back into DFU mode.
Step 7: Perform a tethered boot via RedSn0w by going back to the Extras page and clicking Just Boot.
Step 8: Your device will reboot, and you will have a usable Cydia icon on your Home screen.
Note: This is a tethered iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak. Once RedSn0w is updated for iOS 5.1.1 you will no longer have to follow step 3.
Remember this is only for A4 devices. Meaning it won’t work with the iPad 2, the iPhone 4S, or the new iPad.
The user's with an iPad 2, a new iPad or an iPhone 4S to stay away from the update. As most of you know, pod2g is making great progress with the iOS 5.1 jailbreak, and upgrading to 5.1.1 could ruin your chances of using it.

I would laugh if the exploits were patched in this firmware when the whole poll etc and no news if the jb will be released for 5.1 or 6 and Crapple have just snuck in there and put a big ass spanner in the works
Actually um afraid that would mean someone has tipped apple from the inside of the hackers team , sound SHATTER all over again! That ofcourse if any unreleased exploits were actually patched!

Perhaps this wasn't even the case. We told apple there is a possible jailbreak the requires 5 exploits
I bet you anything you want that is all they needed to start looking
Apple found the 3 of the 5 exploits of the iOS 5 betas in a month
I think the poll dragging in too much attention
The DEV team is becoming too noisy, they need to quiet down

Exactly.
The devs always craving attention is, like it always has been in the past, working against them yet again. There was no reason for the poll...pod2g knew the answer even without it. He even said himself that it would be unfair to wait since all A5 users are stuck without a jb. There's also no reason to publicly announce specific details about the exploits that were found.
This was my entire argument of why waiting is completely pointless and why it has NEVER worked in the past. It always comes back to bite you in the ass...always. Hopefully the exploits weren't all closed and can still be used...but I'm doubting that very much right now.
