Sorry forgot to say I'm on a mac!
I'm now having problems with installing repositories
Nothing seems to be going right!!
Either installation failed, or structure incorrect

---------- EDIT ----------

I am having no luck whatsoever with this.
Some files just won't transfer, and when they do, when I click on them to install, nothing happens.
I just don't get it

You should use cyberduck, I used Ssh using MacBook. Pass is alpine and username is root. Use should first look for the router ip address from your apple tv so you can SSH to the right ip address.

First of all you should not unzip the repo, and ssh into your apple tv and copy all the zip repo into var/mobile/xbmc/media

The zip files only need to go into /var/moble/ any further and you are just adding more work for yourself finding them on the apple tv.

First, make sure you are connecting to the apple tv with SFTP or SCP

Make sure you DO NOT extract the zip file. you want to transfer the xbmc_plugin.zip to /var/mobile/

then follow the install instructions:
1. Open XBMC
2. Go to System > Settings > Add-ons > “Install From ZIP” select the repo zip. Once that’s done, make sure restart XBMC.
3. Navigate to System > Settings > Add-ons > “Get Add-ons” > Repo > Video Add-Ons > Plugin to install the plugin.

Once it is enabled it can be found in Video Add-ons.

Don't forget to use these credentials:

Domain: apple-tv.local (or IP of device)
Username: root
Password: alpine
Port: 22
Protocol: SFTP

Like SuperBee said, don't unzip the plugin file. Just put some where that you can find it in XBMC. Var/mobile/ is what XBMC considers the "Home" folder. Really, you can put it anywhere but that's the easiest to find in XBMC.

---------- EDIT ----------

I posted this for someone else. I using WinSCP in the photos but the concept is the same.

Leave the device connected to the TV and connected to your network. Its quite easy and you don't have to move anything around or connect any cables. No DFU mode required. Use port 22.

Guys, I don't mean to be rude, but I was doing everything you were saying, I've tried again, but to no avail
I can't even remove XBMC for some reason :/
I get this message over SSH:

Reading package lists... Error!
E: Write error - write (28: No space left on device)
E: Can't mmap an empty file
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
Apple-TV:~ root#

I think whoever has installed/jailbroken has done a very bad job!
Think I'm gonna try jail breaking and installing on my other one I have, and see how it goes from there!
Thanks,
Jack

Why don't you have any space left on your device? That's probably your problem.

Yep, it would seem that was the problem!
DOH!
Anyway, I get the impression that ATV Flash is installed on the device ( as I can see it under packages in NitoTV)
However, how do I get the cool menu like when it's displayed on the ATV Flash website?
Thanks!
Jack

This menu?

Thats the latest firmware, 5.0, with a tethered jailbreak. Download FireCore's Seas0nPass jailbreak tool and follow the instructions on how to update and jailbreak tethered. Here is the link to their blog post on the release. Apple TV (ATV2) 5.0 Update | FireCore Read that article in its entirety before proceeding.

I'll be updating to this when the untethered is released.
