What are u thinkin about da iPad??

Hey guys

I just want to ask u,would u buy da ipad?

Apple today introduced iPad, a revolutionary device for browsing the web, reading and sending email, enjoying photos, watching videos, listening to music, playing games, reading e-books and much more. iPad’s responsive high-resolution Multi-Touch display lets users physically interact with applications and content. iPad is just 0.5 inches thick and weighs just 1.5 pounds— thinner and lighter than any laptop or netbook. iPad includes 12 new innovative apps designed especially for the iPad, and will run almost all of the over 140,000 apps in the App Store. iPad will be available in late March
Here's how much it will cost you and when it will be available.

iPad comes in two versions—one with Wi-Fi and the other with both Wi-Fi and 3G. iPad includes the latest 802.11n Wi-Fi, and the 3G versions support speeds up to 7.2 Mbps on HSDPA networks. Apple and AT&T announced breakthrough 3G pre-paid data plans for iPad with easy, on-device activation and management.

Apple and AT&T announced breakthrough 3G pre-paid data plans for iPad with easy, on-device activation and management

Hardware Costs

The iPad comes in three sizes: 16GB, 32GB, 64GB.

You have the choice of purchasing the device with or without 3G Internet access.

iPad 16GB: $499
iPad 32GB: $599
iPad 64GB: $699

iPad 16GB 3G: $629
iPad 32GB 3G: $729
iPad 64GB 3G: $829

Data Plan Costs
Apple has decided to stick with AT&T despite their network issues. At least this time there is no contract involved, the tablet is fully unlocked, and activation can happen right on the device. Unfortunately, the iPad will use a new micro SIM which will means you won't be able to insert your iPhone SIM.

$14.99/month - 250MB of data
$29.99/month - Unlimited data

Availability
The Wi-Fi only edition of the iPad will be available in late March worldwide. The Wi-Fi + 3G models of iPad will be available in April in the US and selected countries. iPad will be sold in the US through the Apple Store, Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers. International pricing and worldwide availability will be announced at a later date. iBookstore will be available in the US at launch.

So many are missing the point.
It's not intended to replace the iPod or iPhone. Sometimes a bigger screen than the iPhone would be nice for surfing, and dragging around a full sized laptop would be overkill.
This is Apple's entry into the popular netbook/ereader market.
With VOIP apps, you should also be able to use it as a phone. For the price you also get full touch screen and the ability to sync & play current and future iPhone apps & games, as well as dedicated iWork programs for only $10.
This puts it way beyond anything similar in the market today.
If it gets JB, well that would be the icing on the cake!

I am thinking I will get one! I use my MBP currently as a reader and Internet device. It's kinda bulky for that and I see the iPad as a proper replacement for those functions. I will still keep my MBP but I think the iPad will be a great addition!

It fails and acting like a netbook/laptop replacement

if it had mac osx, and one usb port, it would be a killer tablet no brainier to get one

but for me it just looks like an oversized iphone

Wait until hp/dell/acer/lenovo release their own tablets they will all run FULL FLEDGED OS like windows 7 and not just a crappy mobile OS

ipad doesnt even have multitasking

Netbooks were never meant to replace laptops.

How many laptops, or other netbooks for that matter have a 10 battery life, even watching videos?

I have a Macbook for more advanced requirements, but on the go, even my current Asus netbook with Windows 7 Ultimate won't be as versatile as the iPad will be, especially when playing iPhone games, surfing, emails, facebook, etc. going 10 hours before needing a charge!

What do you think would be easier to use as well, a netbook sitting on your lap via a tiny track pad or external mouse, or an iPad with a full touch screen with keyboard with pinch, zoom and an accelerometer for portrait or landscape!

Let's see hp/dell/acer/lenovo beat that!

everyone was dissapointed, but lets face it, this isn't meant for your tech guru... step back and look at the actual target audience for these things...

think about your kids carrying this to school instead of books.

think about its competition, kindle2 by amazon... See More

think about your parents or grandparents using this, instead of asking you 50 million questions about how to do something on their computer cause they can't figure it out... this is less complicated almost natural in every way.

its meant to be a portable this is why they limited the space, apple is notorious for this. they don't want you carrying around 500 gigs of music movies and stuff like that... that would defeat the purpose of portable... its like riding a chopper vs riding a bagger. you take what you need leave the rest at home.

the jailbreak community will have this cracked in under a month after its release you can almost guarentee that, so anything this thing wont do for a tech guy it will once jail broken.

also think about its backwards compatibility out of the box it will be able to run all previous app on the appstore.

so bottom line is it wasn't meant for the tech gurus but to fit a new market of people that was previous left in the dark, people that don't want quite a laptop but want something.

you could compare it to those all net machines that all you could do was surf the internet.

just my .02c and i'll probably be picking one up once i know for sure about a jailbreak cause i myself as a tech guru can think of a million uses.

no need for a usb port as they want you to keep it simple and keep it wireless... print to a wifi printserver etc..

I thought Crapple learnt about using metalic or metal housings..
They scratch to easily.
Thats why the 3G and 3Gs have the plastic back.
But i must be wrong.
They do know peeps like to keep their iPhones and Pods scratch free from the
sale of body gloves an cases.
So they will make a killing on the iPad Case..

I still want one though..
Screw AT&T with the data plans, ill just tether my iPhone..

did you even watch or read anything on the ipad... seriously...

you methods are flawed... there is no usb port so unless they come out with a new sync cable that allows you to hook you ipod / iphohe to the ipad tethering isn't going to happen. = solution miwi or pdanet and do it wirelessly.

secondly if you get a 3g model its OPEN GSM, meaning any simcard based carrier should be able to put a sim and and run it... so you don't have to use att could use tmobile or any numerous simcard based prepaid company, or better yet pop your sim out of your iphone and pop it in there for the data... = solution i'd still use miwi or pdanet method cause its easier than switching out the sim.

so why not just save your money don't purchase a 3g model and just let the wifi hit your phone via miwi or pdanet and save the 150 cash... thats my option.

im not being a dickhead, im just pointing out the illogical.
you do know what tethering means correct... and if you meant wifi you should have said tethering via wifi. you may have known what you meant but people can't just go oh hey he means this helps when you explain.
for your reference. thus meaning cord (yes now im being a dickhead!)
Tethering | Definition of Tethering at Dictionary.com:

i've read a shitton of info and never heard them use the term micro sim but after a google surch i have found you p0wnd me in that one area...

and everyone knows it data only so your not telling us anything new. people use regular sims for data as well... so that just pointless to point out as the settings would be virtually the same minus the phone / sms portion.

you had one fuck up i had one fuck up...
