Recovering cleared safari history
I'm a little concerned that my wife's safari history is always empty. Hope I'm just being paranoid. Anyway her phone is a 3gs itunes v9 3.1.2 firmwear not jailbroken. is there anyway to recover cleared safari history without completely f%*#ing with the phone?
Cheers

Off the top of my head this is the best I can do for you. I created a file that makes it so that when she clears the History it doesn't actually clear but she will think it cleared. All you need to do is... - Download this file Safari.plist
- Now FTP into your phone using iSutal, WinSCP or iFunBox etc etc
- Browse to the folder /System/Library/PreferenceBundles/MobileSafariSettings.bundle
- Now you can backup your old Safari.plist file by either saving the old file to your computer OR probably the easiest would be to RENAME the old file from Safari.plist to Safari.plist.bak
- Now just drop in the new file that I gave you
- Respring the phone and your done.
Now she can still go into Settings and Clear the History and it will look like it worked but in reality the History will still be there

Hey your safari.plist file is no longer hosted, would you be able to re-up for me? I'd like to try that out, it sounds way better than using time machine, thanks.
Also what is changed in the plist file you uploaded?

- Just open up the Safari.plist found in /System/Library/PreferenceBundles/MobileSafariSettings.bundle
- Find <string>safariClearHistory:</string>
- Change to <string></string>
- Then SAVE

How do you view the stored history?
Nevermind, I was able to view the history.plist file (found in /private/var/mobile/library/safari) with iPhonebrowser. I originally used iFunbox and it didn't seem to translate the coding at all.
Thanks again!

I removed "safariClearHistory:" and it sucessfully prevents history from being deleted when you try to clear history thru settings but the history.plist file is still being cleared another way and I found out how...
There are two ways to clear history, via settings (which you've taken care of) and via safari directly (bookmarks>history>clear history>clear history).
Now how do we take care of that?
/Applications/MobileSafari.app

If she's hot and give you a BJ like a whore, then she's probably being banged by he whole neighbourhood, otherwise, maybe she's just being sensible and doesn't want her control freak husband prying into her life.

I was curious if I don't have the extension /System/Library/PreferenceBundles/MobileSafariSettings.bundle
I can't find PreferenceBundles does this need to be created?

If you mean the Safari history - Yes - by restoring from a backup. Obviously that history that you want to recover would have to be in that backup - but your Safari history is stored in the iPhone backup. But you cannot find it on the iPhone itself without restoring from the backup.
