Remove update badge in Cydia
Do you have cracked Cydia apps? Do you want to get rid of those annoying update badges and reminders in Cydia? Worried you might mistakenly upgrade and loose your cracked version?
Well this is for you.
SSH or browse your iPhone with iFile to /var/lib/dpkg/ make a backup copy of "status" now edit your file. For example if you have Firewall IP 1.3.1 just search the status file for this and change the version number up to 100 or something. Save the file, respring your device, go to Cydia and refresh and your update should drop off.
I hope that helps someone?

I tried this method and it worked perfectly...until I then tried to update other Cydia apps, which gives an immediate error of ‘sub process usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code 2’, which from searching around, it seems is EXACTLY what happened here (the thread linked a couple of posts up);
quickreply 1.5.3 help - SiNfuL iPhone
I’ve restored the status file to the original version, and I can now update Cydia apps again, but obviously the badges I wanted to hide are now back. I’m 100% sure that all I edited in the file was the version number of the 2 apps I wanted, to like 8.*** from 2.***.
Can anyone shed light on this?

So it's not just me with this problem? I've searched around everywhere and anywhere that's given this tip, people are commenting after it saying thank you it worked...but I'm willing to bet days/weeks later when they try and update other apps Cydia it won't work!
There must just be something else somewhere that needs updating for the error not to be given. I just wish I knew what!

People have their reasons why they don’t want to update an app, and don’t want to be notified about it!

Did you figure out what else needed to be edited though? Or have you had to revert back to your backup file (and lose this badge fix) like me?

Just bringing this topic back to see if anyone ever figured this out? Every google result for 'remove cydia badges' comes back with these same instructions on various sites, but no one explaining how to fix the problem it causes.
Anyone found a way around it/another way of removing cydia update badges?
