How to Find UDID (Unique Device ID) of iPhone and iPod Touch

All the iPhone and iPod Touch devices will bear a a Unique Device Identifier(UDID) which will uniquely identify the device. UDID is a sequence of 40 characters which includes both letters and numbers. Usually a UDID looks like – 166d0bc8123d57baee9c212a7d5a24014c85e29ca. You can only install Apps on your iPhone or iPod Touch that are approved by Apple. But if you need to try out beta apps then you have to register your UDID with Apple so they can approve the application especially for your iPhone. UDID is also required in other scenarios also. Below is a simple method to find the UDID of your iPhone or iPod Touch.

How to Find UDID of iPhone and iPod Touch

Connect your iPhone or iPod Touch with the USB cable.
Start iTunes on your Windows or Mac.
Now select your iPhone or iPod under the Devices menu which is on the left side.
In the Device Menu you will find your Device like “Samrat iPod”. Click that and open the Summary Tab on the right pane.
In the Summary Tab you will find Name, Capacity, Software Version and Serial Number. Click “Serial Number”.

After clicking ‘Serial Number’ it will change to “Identifier (UDID)” and displays the UDID of your device.

You can now copy (Ctrl + C on Windows and Command + C on Mac) the 40-digit UDID and use it for your purpose.
