[How To] Enable Voice Control on the iPad

For some reason I cant embed the video at this moment

The iPhone has a few features that the iPad is capable of doing but it doesn’t and one of those features are Voice Control. But now you are able to do that with a jailbroken iPad. Guide inside!

Note, before you do this guide you will need a jailbroken iPad. If yours isn’t jailbroken you can follow my simple guide to jailbreak the iPad. Once its jailbroken you can SSH into your device to do this or do it the simple way and download iFile from Cydia and do it straight from your device.

1. Navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app

2. Open K48AP.plist in a text editor or a plist editor.

3. Under the capabilities area add the following key

voice-control



4. Reboot your iPad and enjoy Voice Control!

This Didn't work with the iPad, when it was updated to iOS 4.2.1 for me. Do you have a fix or is there other edit changes that need to be made?

Works on (my) iPad Wifi on 3.2.2. For those who are not sure, it should look like this in the K48AP.plist:

capabilities

voice-control


Note: Keep the inserted strings aligned with the rest of the strings.

Press save and respiring. There will be no icon on your SpringBoard and to activate Voice Control, press the Home button for 3 seconds and to close it, press the home again (duh).

Sweet... Worked for me... i'm on 3.2.2 though... haven't had the guts to upgrade and rejailbreak

Here is a fix posted on the net, Have not tried it.

OK, I extracted the folder RecognitionResources with it's contains and put them into the iPad with iOS 4.2.1. And now Voice Control works, this was the missing part of resources. I hope this will help others in the future. I did not use the deb file, with Additional themes.

How did you extract the file from the deb and where did you install the file. And has anyone tried this on 4.3.1?

Nevermind I figured it out and it works on my iPad fw 4.3.1, no need for winterboard.
