Icon14 Iphone 4 Reception Problem UPDATE

Found this excert....

As you are probably aware there have been numerous reports that there is a reception problem with the new iPhone 4 which apparently stems from the way a user holds their iPhone 4 and comes in contact with a certain area of the antenna band.

Well according to a Rosa Golijan article over on Gizmodo, an article over on Apple Insider has it that there just might be an iOS 4 update being pushed out by Apple as soon as Monday or possible sometime during next week to resolve the issue.

Apparently this reception issue isn’t to do with the hardware, but rather the software. The fix will, well, fix a problem in iOS 4 which is related to “radio frequency calibration” of the baseband. Apparently the problem is believed to happen when switching frequencies due to the lag not being calibrated correctly.

The release of an iOS update this quickly is somewhat unusual for Apple, however considering the large amount of complaints hitting the net over this iPhone 4 problem, perhaps Apple decided to work rather quickly to get it resolved, that is of course if an iOS 4 update does resolve the problem.

My friend and I have this problem, but it's not disturbing at the moment. It's not perfect, but we can cope.

Here's my video on t-mobile UK which lasts 10 minutes. During this video I wanted to show that I do loose signal and it goes to "Searching..." but not this time, during this 10 minutes test, nothing like that happened. If you watch it, you will see that it looses the signal at some point for a split second. In that case, if the call was active it would not be disconnected. It often says No Signal, but I can still communicate with other person. The "talk" quality goes down, but works. On my video you can see that I keep loosing 3G and it goes to GPRS, and signal disappears for a split second.

I tried to stick an isolating tape and it did not help. I tried to stick 4 layers of that tape - no improvement.

I like steel and I'm not going to cover it with anything, but at the moment the signal seems just fine.

Here's my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6prqv6Z3xM

At the moment we're more worried not having JB lol

I'm alrite at the moment. I hate cases and no matter what I won't get one. The signal is quite strong in my areas so I'm not that fussed.

Like I said, I like steel and I hate plastics..

That will get me a free apple bumber at lease until replacement phones available this so called software release I cant see how can resolve a design and build error???

Also in the UK with this problem , have a gel case from the bay and it does not improve the signal strength one bit.
Once in my hand it losses all the bars depending where I am, never happend with my 3GS, also I get a message up on the screen saying lost network, settings or dismiss !!

Strange works on mine as you now cant make contract with the metal so sounds like yours maybe something else as does not sound logical

Without the case never got any of the messages you say just No Signal shows

For a quick fix to reception issues on ALL iPhones, keep your cable on you at all times.

If you get a place with low signal, plug in the cable to JUST THE PHONE, not a computer...

Voila... The cable doubles as an external antenna. I've used this several times, works great!
