HOW TO: Use TinyUmbrella To Save Your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad’s SHSH Blobs

Since Apple dropped iOS 4.1 beta 1, and everybody told you to save your SHSH blobs, we got quite a few emails asking us how to do it. If you are not a new iDevice user, or new to the “dark side” , then you know what firmware umbrella and tinytss is. If you don’t here you go:

* Umbrella – The tool simply performs the same challenge request that iTunes does during an iDevice restore. The difference is that it saves the results in a single shsh file. This file will give you the ability, to restore back to a previous firmware indefinitely
* TinyTSS – is a small java app that acts as your very own signature service.When iTunes verifies your restore for your iDevice, it ‘phones home’ to see if you are allowed to restore to the version you are requesting. With TinyTSS + the shsh blob file(s) you obtained with Umbrella, you will be able to restore to the version of those shsh files forever!
* TinyUmbrella – merge the two tools described above

NOTE: TinyUmbrella will save your SHSH blobs even if your iOS devices is not jailbroken.

How to save your SHSH blobs:

1. Download TinyUmbrella ( Mac and Windows )

2. Load it and connect your iOS device

3. Now select ‘Advanced Option’. Your ECID number should already be there, and make sure ‘Location’ is set to ‘Cydia’



4. Now just click on ‘Save My SHSH’ and wait a few seconds (around 4-5 seconds)



5. That’s it. Done deal…

I would use :-
Location : Apple

as cydia seems not to save some of the keys in the blobs for iPhone 4...

I have found the missing information to be :-
APTicket, BBTicket, and a sub section BasebandFirmware, with keys
FlashPSI-Blob, FlashPSI-PartialDigest and RamPSI-PartialDigest

older devices should be fine

apple has nothing to do with this program and its java errors.

jima6636 was having java problems before...

his solution was to uninstall java completely from windows

then reinstall the latest version from sun microsystems

yes i have found cydia does not save the complete blob for iPhone 4.. get the blob from apple ...

thanks man, but its still not working. Uninstalled java, reinstalled java and I get the same error and tiny closes.

do you have an umbrella.log file ... probably in your home directory...

also explain the error to him and any information you can give him to help fix it in the next release..

What do you mean home directory? I have the app on my desktop. iphone 4 plugged in. I click the app to start and immediately get this error.

they are done signing them so that could be problem ....I had to uninstall any java I had then reboot my pc then install the one multipazz gave to me and it worked for me ...I previously had 3.0,3.1,3.1.2,3.1.3 saved on cydia but 4.0 never saved but I wanted them all on my pc and if you hit advance you can save any previous ones cydia saved so now my cydia says they are all saved plus they all are on my pc saved to

i don't know why but I'm not able to save my shsh for my 3GS (old bootrom) on iOS4
I've been trying it for a couple of weeks now but it just doesn't work
it always stays at the "processing shsh request"

I tried different pcs different cables and different wifi networks but nothing worked....

connected idevice, ran tiny umbrella

it said SHSH successfully save! [click here to open]

i clicked it ... and it brought me to this file

3967946743182-ipt-2g-3.1.2.shsh and i moved it to a safe location.

so is that it? i'm all good? cuz when i load up cydia, it doesn't say anything is saved at the top of the screen.

well you saved your shsh file for 3.1.2
if you want to save it for 4.0 you have to klick advanced and select iOS4
