How can I tell 3g or 3Gs

I am new so I hope I am not asking a question that has already been brought up. Is there any way to tell the difference between a 3g or 3gs that wont turn on due to water damage

Check the model number on the back of the phone it will start with the letter A and will probably be A1303

Following Sinful, It will start with the letter A if It's a 3G. Not a 3GS.

No a A1303 is a 3G not a 3Gs. It is a 16GB version of the 3G.

Another way, if the letters are a matte gray, then its a 3G. If its a 3GS, the letters will be chrome like the Apple logo. The best place to check is the "iPhone" script.

My 3GS has model number A1303 but in the chrome color not the matte of the 3G.

Is this thread serious? I guess everyones parent bought their phones for them here.

Forget looking at the model number. It should clearly say 3G or 3Gs on the back. The 3G comes in 8gb or 16gb and the 3Gs comes in 16gb or 32gb.

i'm looking at the back of mine right now... it doesn't say 3gs anywhere...

And its model number A1303

3GS = 16gb & 32gb
3GS = Chrome Apple Logo and letters on the Back *
3GS = Model # A1303 Chrome on the back *
3GS = Compass and Voice Recognition ( Software based ) *

3G = Non of the above --- > *

nah she didn't I just know what I bought. My mistake though, I thought it said 3G or 3Gs where it says the storage amount. It's always in a case so I never look at it.

words on the bottom of your iphone, if they are silver, its a 3gs
