I am travelling to Paris this weekend with my 3GS 4.0.1. I will be mostly on Aiplane mode to avoid any AT&T Charges. I know I can access WiFi while in Airplane mode, but can I utilize my GPS while in Airplane Mode? Any advice would help greatly. Basically, i have the maps for paris loaded on my phone and I would love to use them without worring about any incoming call or text charges.
i drove around the usa for 10 days with navigon and data roaming OFF with no charges at all.
BUT if you answer a call/text it is charges for that but is not data related.
with data roaming off the phone won't connectt to anything till you are on wifi.
How about you just put ur phone in airplane mode right now and then go to your maps app and see it will find you. If it does them there's your answer.
Just tried that out and NO GPS WILL NOT WORK WHILE IN AIRPLANE mode
If traveling internationally, fees are incurred based on which company is providing service, it would be wise to check who the providers are in the country you are traveling to and inquire about their fee structure.
