All i see is one folder "all_flash.n88ap.production" and not the other one..

does this work on 4.2.1? cause i see your using 3.1.2 on this post.

4. Delete the LLB.m ** ap.RELEASE.img3 file in both folders and rename the applelogo.xxx.img3 file to LLB.m ** ap.RELEASE.img3

Before doing step 4, create a copy of "applelogo.xxx.img3" so you'll have

"applelogo.xxx.img3" and
"copy - applelogo.xxx.img3"

now delete "LLB.m**ap.RELEASE.img3" and rename "copy - applelogo.xxx.img3" to "LLB.m**ap.RELEASE.img3".

Before it wouldn't work for me, but today I did it with a 3gs with a broken power button for 4.3.1. It will take a while because it'll look like you're actually restoring then 3-4 minutes in it'll restart into DFU mode and you're set to go. After that JB with redsnow and for some reason if you end up like me waiting for Activation bundle thingy for 5 minutes and ending up at recovery just use tiny umbrella to get kicked out of recovery and done

I did this with only 1 folder!!

If you follow the link on the original post and scroll down to the comments, you'll see someone mentioned a way to workaround this problem.

Note that in 4.2.1 there is only 1 folder in the all_flash folder, so you may want to edit that. You also must COPY the applelogo.xxxxxxxxxxx (its multiple letters+numbers).img3 file and rename the COPY. Otherwise, iTunes will come up with error 11.

I've tried this multiple times, but iTunes immediately gives me an error when I shift+restore with the ipsw I made. It says "The iPhone could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible." I'm sure I'm editing the right ipsw.

Help, anyone? :/

When I select delete the file, it will act as if it is trying to locate where the file is. Eventually after another 5 minutes or so, windows explorer will crash. I tried this on 3 different firmwares. Also, it will not allow me to rename the files for some reason.

I had posted how to do this successfully but idk what happened... but for anyone who is getting the error on itunes about the firmware not being compatible, use "stuffit archive manager" to edit the .zip file and then rename it to .ipsw and finally, restore with itunes.
