iphone 4 cant detect sim card

My iphone can't read the sim card, but there is nothing wrong with the iphone or sim card, i took the card out n placed it in another iphone, it works, so the card is fine.

so i did a restore, and it worked, my iphone detected the sim card, so i proceeded to restore from my backup, to my horror, it cant detect the sim card again once it retored the old backup

i'm thinking something i installed in cydia caused that, anyway to fully remove settings from cydia apps?
since now i'm using a fresh os without cydia apps installed, but all the preferences should still be in the phone

any ideas?

edit: i notice that when you remove the simcard, it will say no simcard installed, however in my iphone, it didnt say that, it's like its not even checking if the simcard is there

Use the other phone?

(Sorry had to say it)

Maybe get rid of the backup and start afresh, sounds like a backup problem,

It doesn't sound like any cydia app problem to me, because as you stated,
you did a fresh restore, which wipes the whole phone clean.

well the other phone has the same problem when i use my old backup as well

i think i solved it, simply turn off airplane mode and turn it back on and it worked

now i feel like an idiot, should have read the apple troubleshooting b4 i restored

If you can't make or receive calls, send or receive text messages, or access email or the web

1. Check the cell signal indicator in the status bar at the top of the screen. If there are no bars, or if it says "No service," try moving to a different location. If you're indoors, try going outdoors or moving closer to a window.
2. Check to make sure you’re in an area with network coverage. Go to your carrier's website to see network coverage areas.
3. Make sure airplane mode isn't on. From the Home screen choose Settings, then turn Airplane Mode off.
4. If that doesn't work, turn airplane mode on, wait 15 seconds, then turn airplane mode off again.
