How to JailBreak your iPhone 4 using limera1n

JailBreak your iPhone 4 iOS 4.1 using limera1n by GeoHot

This is a step by step guide, that will show you how to use limeRa1n to jailbreak your iPhone iOS 4.1.

LimeRa1n can jailbreak a various amount of iDevices:

iPhone 4
iPhone 3GS
Touch 4G
iPod Touch 3G
iPad 3.2.2

Jailbreaking can void your warranty so use at your own risk.

I used a PC OS windows 7 to JailBreak my iPhone4

Step 1: Download limera1n @ http://www.limera1n.com/ available for PC and MAC.

Step 2: Connect your iPhone via USB and launch LimeRa1n then click “Make it Ra1n”.

Step 3: Follow the prompted onscreen instructions and do exactly what it tells you:
Hold the Home and Power button together.

Step 4: Release the Power button.

Step 5: LimeRa1n now enter your iPhone into DFU mode while it proceeds to JailBreak your iPhone

Step 6: Your iPhone is almost jailbroken and you should see the following messages.

Your iPhone will then display the Apple icon then power off, then you may have to turn your iPhone back on manually. The limera1n Logo will then appear as full screen display, then it may turn itself off again and you may have to manually turn it on (I tested this a few times with different results).

Step 7: Open the spring board on your iPhone and open limera1n. It will either be a white box or it will have the specific limera1n logo. If you don’t see the LimeRa1n icon on your iPhone, simply reboot it, then launch LimeRa1n on your iPhone and select Cydia to install.

Step 8: Once Cydia is installed, you can delete the limera1n Application from your spring board.

I've got a jailbroken iPhone 4 running 4.0.1. Wanting to upgrade to update to 4.1. Should I update through iTunes and then jailbreak or restore and jailbreak

If you have a carrier locked iPhone (AT&T) i wouldnt upgrade to 4.1. As far as I know there is not a way to save your baseband. So upgrading to 4.1 will automatically revert your carrier settings back.

MuscleNerd from the iPhone DEV team is assuring that a full unlock with ultrasn0w isn't to far away, so if your carrier locked wait untill this is released.

If your like me and don't live in the U.S and don't have to worry about a carrier lock, then by all means go ahead and do it.

so i have a virgin iphone4 on 4.0.2 and its carrier unlocked and i wanna jailbreak it. do i just use gp/lr or do i need to restore to custom firmware then jb?mind you the phone is activated but i dont have the original sim if somthing goes wrong

Im new here, but I'd like to ask something
I have an Iphone 4 4.1 with Limera1n jailbreak
Can someone pease explain the upgrade procedure to 4.2 if it will be released, and the Limera1n is updated also to support 4.2
This is my first Iphone so i made my my first jailbreak only 2 weeks ago, but it was so simple thanks to this app

thx for info. done it .. but when i use third party applications its showing error on itunes

error 0xE8008001

and the applications and games cant be installed.
