TV Out + Firmware 3.1.2

Has anyone been succesfull in making TV out functionality on 3.1.2 with 3rd party cables.

I have heard that there are applications like ScreenSplitr but it is not working atleast for me on firmware 3.1.2. Though the cables I have were meant for Ipod Video 3rd gen ( before the iphone and touch came out)

simple fix

take this file and place it on your iphone : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AXPVO33B
in to the following dir

root/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/IAP.framework/Support

you will see a file called : iapd rename it : iapd.3.1.2 <--- or the version firmware u have
copy the new iapd from the link above
after you have placed it on the phone reboot and have fun

TESTED WITH 3G 16GB 3.0.1 FIRMWARE WORKED FINE
i JUST UPDATED TO 3.1.2 TODAY STILL WORKS

i have also tested this on 3.1 3GS 16GB and 8GB 3G 3.0.1 works flawless aswell

again you will need the correct cables hope u got them
i ordered like 5 pairs of them and gave them to my friends lol

these are the cables i bought : AV RCA USB Video Cable for iPhone 3G iPod Touch Nano TV - eBay (item 190346422650 end time Nov-03-09 10:16:47 PST)

they have a little red led inside easy to remove it blinks over and over and drains power if you dont removed it once removed the changering works better

i bought those cables in the states for $3 each x 5 = $15 and that was free shipping not bad 2 days to get here

from hong kong u can get them for like .75 each buy 2 - 4 weeks on the shipping

thanks for the post. i did it but not workin for me . I guess then it is my cable issue . My cable is the 3rd party dock from the traditional ipod video and it used to work well there .

Can i just ask for a bit of clarification b4 i do this?
There's a file already on the phone called iapd. if i rename it and copy the new file onto the phone as described above, then i'll have two files on the phone - the renamed file and the new one (whcih is called iapd).
Or do you mean replace the iapd file already there with the new file which you rename iapd3.0.1 (or iapd 3.1.2 depending on firmware version running on the phone)
Am i being thick here - no don't answer that!

well in the absence of a reply i'm just going to replace the old file with the new one as that seems to make sense. i am worried though after reading comments on some other forums that the patched iapd file is all about removing the mesage rather than making the tv out cable actualy work

when i said you will see a file in the folder. U should rename it to iapd.old or something so u have it incase u need it.

yes the hack will take away the message box from poping up thats all that is needed as most of the cables where working before that message started to pop up

I just downloaded TV-OUT from CYDIA
i replaced my orig iapd back to my phone and then opened TV-OUT selected YOU TUBE and IPOD and now my shit works with the stock one lol

can I use any cable (including the Apple ones) with this hack? I would be using it on jailbroken iPod Touch 3G (most likely) and iphone 3GS both on latest firmware?

No i dont think so - can you find the other sub directories?
I had to root around qhuite ab it b4 i found the right folder. i use cyberduck to talk to the iphone on a mac powerbook

Well i can now report back on my trying out iapd files and tv out as my cable arrived today.
Repalcing the iapd file certainly disables the messages, but also disables the sound which worked fine with the original file. No video sent to the tv though. So then i tried the tv-out app from cydia and for me that didn't work at all. There's also screenspltr to try out, but i'm not impressed with the reviews that say the screen image is degraded as the fps rate is very low.
No wonder people jailbreak phones when apple make something as basic as video and audio out so difficult to achieve without an overpriced apple offical cable! cjwj

bro the sites u hv mentioned for cable unfortunatey no longer exist. any other cables, the ones i saw on ebay are like £20 ($35), any cheap cables...

I have tested the patch on FW3.1.3 3G iphone. Set user permission to 777.

Functioning.
