[Share] Possible Fix for Facetime Activation Problem

Hi, just want to share another found

Since we all knew, iPhone 4 Unlocker user got problem with activating Facetime, even when using Official Carrier (like i did)

My problem is that the Facetime Toggle inside Phone setting keep say Wating for Activation and then Back to OFF, even when my SIM successfuly send International SMS to Apple UK number that used for activation number

i didn't install any Facetime Mod like My3G, Facebreak, and 3G Unsrestrict and my carrier is official, so i think the problem is somewhat in other thing

till i found the "com.apple.imagent.plist" that control Facetime app

the file location is inside : System/Library/LaunchDaemons

i open this file using iFile , and compare to the file of Facetime Beta in My iMac

then i found that this line was not supposedly there :

i remove this line, Save the thing, and reboot my phone

*for one who got difficulties in editing the file, simply replace the file with the one i upload here :

then i try to re-activate my Facetime (Toggle from OFF to ON)

and Voila!! my Facetime activated!!

please state ur Facetime problem here also

i didn't say this solution worked for all Facetime activation problem...

at least worked with my problem which is

-Unlocked AT&T unit
-Using in Another Country
-JB using LimeRain
-Baseband 01.59 & Ultrasnow
-Official Carrier of iPhone in my Country
-Can't activate FT, not stuck in waiting but keep back to OFF
-Activated after mod the imagent file

if u'r on unofficial carrier, i suggest to patch 1st ur commcenter

i got one of my iphone's FT activation successfully with your file (JB using Limerain)
another one (JB using GreenPoison) is in the case: "Can't activate FT, not stuck in waiting but keep back to OFF".

btw, ur phone is factory unlock? isn't it?

yea, it's factory unlocked.

well, 2 phones are using different local carriers actually. (FT can be activated before JB )
i m not sure if the problem is caused by the greenpoison or the carrier.

Both phones are originally in the case "keep say Waiting for Activation and then Back to OFF"

because actually not every carrier is already support FT...

u already try to switch the sim between each other phone?

FT is okay before JB
so it should not be the carrier's problem.

I'm on 4.1, which is not supported yet for new activation by MiTime[color="#d3e009"]

Ok ppl, here's the deal: I tryed everything i could to get my FaceTime to work here in Brazil, none of them worked as i was here looking for a solution. I've downloaded the file this guy is sharing and it worked like a charm!

How i was before trying this out:
- iOS 4.1 LimeRa1n Jailbroken;
- My Number showing "Unknown" and uneditable;
- "Show my Caller ID" set to ON;
- Carrier bundle up to date (in my case, Claro Brasil 8.1);
- Phone being capable of sending and recieving international msg (there's one link in other post here wich you can use to send yourself a test msg);
- Prepaid phone plan (upgraded it to 3G -as it was as GSM or something- in the store, but i don't have data plan);

What i tried: (With no apparent effect)
- Restoring to reset the carrier bundle to an earlier version (my case, 8.0), but always in 4.1;
- Reseting full Settings and only network settings;
- Calling the carrier about my issue (obviously this one couldn't work )
- Editing my plan options for allowing international Data Roaming (that costed me some $$);


All i've done was downloading the file he shared, copy/past into the right folder (just following the instructions), and hard-power cycle the iPhone. First thing i noticed was the My number field showing my right number in the right format +55 (XX) XXXX XXXX ! Easy like that, after few months just trying the get my phone to recognize my number, that simple file did the trick. Afterwards, i turned my WiFi on and toggled FaceTime ON, the phone promptet me about sending the msg being charged (witch happened, about R$0,40) and then waited for about 30 segs. Just after my phone prompted my credits on screen (then i realized the cost), i waited for about other 30 segs and thats it; FaceTime activated and working.

I'll be trying this out in my GF's i4, wich has the same problem mine did (no number, etc) and i'll be posting the results here as soon as i try.

Hi, I'm also from Brazil, never managed to enable FaceTime on my iPhone 4, so I decided to try this.

I jailbroke the iPhone in 4.1, then I found the original com.apple.imagent.plist in System/Library/LaunchDaemons as you said, and compared to the one you provided, but they were identical! Either way, I replaced it with the one you provided, but as expected, nothing changed =(

as i mentioned above, the file that i provide is the "virgin" file, that should work properly if nothing wrong with other things (Carrier, International SMS permit, etc), this is usable if the file on ur phone used to modified by any 3rd party software, or accidentally edited...

if ur file is identical, i think the problem is with another thing,

Ive got my another phone worked but do a few more steps

I restored my greenpoison-ed iphone and JB using limerain again.
The "com.apple.imagent.plist" is same as the "virgin" file from otosan.
Cannot activate FT at this stage (keep say Waiting for Activation and then Back to OFF).

then i
1. Switch OFF FT
2. Switch OFF "Show my Caller ID"
3. Reboot
4. Switch ON "Show my Caller ID" and FT (say Waiting for Activation)
5. make a phone call with another FT enabled iphone (cannot FT at this time)
6. end call
7. go back to the FT settings and it is ON already
test FT again and it works.

i've had this problem since yesterday and spent hours since then trying to fix it, now i didnt try this method, editing the file and what not, but i did finally get ti working by uninstalling VEENCY... i dunno if that will make a difference for anyone else, but it caused my facetime to stop wrking, the on/off switch in settings>phone kept turning off after 5 seconds of trying to turn it on, and facebreak/3gunrestricter nothing else worked... so maybe that might work for some people, just uninstall veency and respring...

thanks... i got mine to work as well...

1.to put ur phone number in +1 just toggle airplane mode off and on then just go in ur phone and manually add the +1 in front...

2.then using ifile delete the line mention above and reboot...

3. try FT should take nomore than 20 sec to see if works....
