Icon9 Broken Sleep Button (dfu possible?)

So I have an iPod Touch 2g MC model.

It is on OS 4.0 and has the ssh stored for 3.1.2, 4.0 and 4.1 (I am not sure why 4.1 as I haven't been jailbroken on it)

Right, I would like to upgrade and then jailbreak with limera1n however my sleep button is broke, is there any ways around my inability to manually get into dfu?

I feel the answer will be useful for many people, and will promote that way to people who have the same problem.

(I know there's the option to fix the sleep button, but that's a last resort)

there's a problem with ipod 2g's where it just refuses to go into dfu mode i was trying for a good few hours before giving up my ipod wont go into recovery without using tinyumbrella (holding home and plugging in doesn't work) and i dont think there is a way to get into dfu mode without a home/sleep button. i'ld stick on 4.0

Method did not work, the recovery mode that it offers dosen't play nice with limera1n or greenp0ison

DFU and recovery mode aren't the same. Tinyumbrella only puts it in recovery mode.
