I followed every step but I don't see Var folder in the Raw file system.

I added var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall to my raw file system and dropped the cydia.deb file to auto install but still doesn't work.

You can actually get the newer version of Cydia on iOS 3.1.3 if you use whited00r 4.1 firmware. This only applies to 2G 3G users et cetera
If I helped you, hit the thanks button please.
You can follow my Twitter @Whited00r

For users with 'older devices ', try custom firmware from whited00r

Well that wasn't a good idea. So when you open "Raw File System", what folders do you see? "var" should be at the bottom.

No Var folder. My Cydia crashed after updating "MyWI" on sinfuliphone repo and froze. I had to master reset and now my Cydia won't open.

Any solution to this?

Did you try all other 5 steps to get Cydia up and running?

Yep tried every single step 2x. I don't even know what happened to my Var folder. I had to make a whole new var folder.

But I guess the only solution is to restore and rejailbreak? Since I have new bootrom on my 3GS could I still update to 4.2 without being tethered?

Yea, a restore is the only thing I can think of right now. Somehow Cydia deleted the var folder

My cydia is working perfectly. I have over twenty different sources in my Cydia. Somewhere along the line I lost the repo where I orignally bought my3g and mywi. How do I get that repo back? I still have them on my iphone but I will never be able to update them. Yes I have all the repos where I can get them for free but would like my original repo back since I paid for those apps anyway.
Thank You

What repo was both my3g and mywi in? I don't have any one source that has both of those paid.

Unfortunately, this is not working for me.

I keep getting error messages in the header as Cydia is loading, which takes forever.

I replaced the .deb file as described numerous times, rebooted, etc...but still no luck.

Also, I just installed Installous 4 and it crashes immediately when I attempt a "search"

Seeing that you have 3.X, did you get the correct Cydia for 3.X?

I'm running iOS 4.2.1 so I used "cydia_1.0.3366.7.iphoneos-arm.deb"

I also used "iPhone Browser" and also "FunBox" and am running WXPP SP3

Also having numerous issues installing the sinful repo as it is throwing up numerous error messages.

Have you tried to remove all your sources manually and add them again?

Not yet.

Too many problems with Cydia and with Installous 4.x crashing when attempting a search, plus other issues with apps that are now crashing.

Looks like my JB has gone bad (again)

Seems like it will work fine for a month or so, then gradually begin to have issues.

Last JB was with RedSnow 9.6 beta 5

You don't do it via Cydia, check out the other 5 steps you do if reinstalling Cydia didn't work.
