Recover deleted photos and videos on iPhone 4 :(

Hi all, just wondering if anyone can help me? My toddler was viewing her photos and videos I took of her playing in the park and she DELETED them - god I really hate Apple for not introducing more stuff to keep our Apps in place as well as "lock" photos and videos so that we can't accidentally delete them....

Very upset at the moment, sry!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me!

Hi there nrgy,

Thanks for your quick reply but unfortunately, that program didn't even recognise my iPhone 4

I'll keep searching and waiting...

Thanks anyway, it's much appreciated!

i usually do it once a month or so.

I know you probably don't wanna hear it, but backing up is worth doing, just incase a scenario like this happens.

Hope you get it sorted mate, but from my experience, if you didn't backup, im afraid they're gone.

Usiris, please whatever you do don't try to restore from a backup straight away. Check the date on the back up to see if it is relatively recent. If it isn't then bare with me as I have done a proceedure about a year ago where I had to recover all of my daughters info from her iphone, including pictures, etc. Now with the new tools available I will be testing it in the next few hours to see if my theory works so that the recovery process doesn't take 8 hours like it did last time. I'll post back soon.

Hi guys, oh no, I went home that night and did a restore because I looked at the time of my last backup and I thought it was probable that the videos were backed up. Alas, they weren't

I'll wait for your post shuky - maybe your tools might work?

Thanks for the support guys!

Ok Usiris, I have been trying like a madman to get the bloody theory to work and windows 7 just won't play ball with me. Basically the link that notnak posted was what I followed over a year ago and it did work, but, and this is the problem I had to do it with a mac not a windows machine. Lucky for me I had the use of my sister's iMac at the time.

Anyway I'll share my theory with you. I was trying to get the USB tunnel working through iFunbox on windows and do the transfer via USB rather than wifi, problem is the tunnel through ifunbox is not recognised in the terminal window. So maybe you can play around with it and you might get it to work or if you can get your hands on a mac then it will make life a lot easier. OR now this I have not tested it's just my rambling thoughts, if you have a spare laptop around, maybe download iatkos or ideneb and make a "hackintosh" that you can do the above procedure.

Now if you do get a mac to do this, my pointers for you. Make sure you have your phone plugged in to the charger, disable auto sleep. Only have the computer and the phone on the wifi network, any undue traffic through the router can error out the process or make it take even longer, also either take your sim card out or put the phone in aeroplane mode as a phone call will kill the transfer too. My trick was to set it up to do it just before I went to sleep. It still took 3 attempts to get an image, but I did in the end get the image that was usable. Don't install anything else on your phone for right now or you will decrease your chances of getting the photos back. Ummm not much else I can remember right now, I'll keep trying to get the usb tunnel to work, and I'll post back if I succeed, but sorry man you might be in for a few days of work with this as it stands right now.

To be honest, I have never been successful in retrieving deleted data, even trying literally seconds after deleting the data. Our filesystems suck
I hope you can retrieve the data, but don't get your hopes up because there's a good chance you can't. In the least, take this as a lesson to
A. Backup your phone at least every few days, if not every day. You never know.
B. Make your phone lock itself right away or within a minute or two, for those pesky hands.
C. You could install iProtect, to password your apps that contain sensitive data. (photos :P)
If I helped you, hit the thanks button please.
