Overclocking iPhone?
YouTube - Overclock iPhone 3G

According to this video, it is possible to overclock your iPhone 3G to 550mhz by changing this file: /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/PowerManagement.bundle/com.apple.SystemPower ProfileDefaults.plist

I've heard that the iPhone cpu clock was controlled by the firmware and was read only. Can someone confirm the legitimacy of this so called hack?



My thoughts; Idk if this works or not i did this an i think its faster but it could be in my head

I've heard of this but can unhappily say that after about 3 hours of searching no one seems to believe it's possible to overclock, which sucks cause I would do it just to say I did... is that a bad thing? Who needs battery life anyway, I'm all about power... and by power I mean speed

I saw this over at 2 other forums.

What this does is make your iphone think it is connected to a battery source, so the battery lasts longer and works a bit faster. I really wouldn't recommend it, no one had any major differences in battery life or iphone speed.

Yeah I've seen that people swear up and down that the file is identical to the one being replaced so I think it's just a meh... fake?

He only way to make a 3g faster is to upgrade to a 3gs. After doing side by side comparisons of the two, the new chip in the 3gs does load apps faster. You really need to do a comparison of the two to actually see the difference tho otherwise you'd probably never notice it.

My only question is does the PS One emulator play games effectively on the 3GS? It sure doesn't on my 3G so I'm sad. But yeah still wondering, does PS4iPhone play games up to speed with the 3GS or will we need to wait for the next iPhone to make magic happen?
