Can't exit recovery!

I downloaded a copy of 4.2.1 and am shsh. So I opened itunes, went to restore, clicked it while pressing shift and selected the 4.2.1. It started to go through but gave me error 10. Now my phone says plug into itunes but tinyumbrella won't kick it out of recovery. it seems like it does because the phone shuts off, but when it starts back up it says the same thing. Tried restoring again and same problem.. any ideas?

so far I have tried ireb, following their instructions. I have tried entering DFU mode and fixing recovery on tiny umbrella. tried this over and over again while restoring 4.2.1 and I haven't been able to get it out of the connect to itunes screen... can anyone help me out here before i resort to installing 4.3.. which would totally blow.
edit: I also wanted to add that I am getting a windows error while trying to fix recovery. It is futil (a whole bunch of numbers).exe has stopped working. Anyone get this error?

Restart your computer and uninstall and reinstall iTunes. I had this issue a few days ago with my 4.1.

I found a link and it looks like there is a different way to do this. using 4.1 I just kicked it out of recovery using tiny umbrella. But i read somewhere that we know have to jailbreak during that recovery. So I did that using green poison and nothing.. still stuck. connect to itunes screen is still up..

When you kicked out of recovery did it go back to the apple logo or connect to iTunes? Or the emergency call screen?

I've had every problem possible happen and it doesn't sound like game over yet. One way to quickly troubleshoot the problem is to switch the iPhone to another computer and try to restore it. Sometimes this will do the trick. You might download and try Recboot instead of tinyumbrella. Also can you put the iphone in DFU mode? Recovery mode an DFU are two different things. Many times good old DFU will do the trick.

I'd put in DFU then run the TSS in tinyumbrella , and shift restore. Of try that like 5x. If that fails I'd start looking for custom firmware. I had issues restoring my phone the other day. I had to run a restore 6x before it went through with out errors.

yes I tried in DFU mode.. no go. I will try another computer now..

---------- EDIT ----------

WOWWW! after 4 hours of trying to figure it out. i am finally running 4.2.1. Experiences like this really make me want to switch over to android.. anyway I read some tutorials that some people posted on tiny umbrellas faq pages and figured it out. For everyone who is having issues with this check this
Download TinyUmbrella (Fix Recovery) to Exit iOS 4.3 Recovery Mode Loop | Jaxov

ignore everything about 4.3. the process is exactly the same apparently. Download that zlib file from the link and download the recovery file. extract both and put the zlib file into the recovery folder. click fixrecovery421. this process took no more than 5 minutes. wanted to share the wealth.. goodluck

Now i seem to have the same problem but on a higher operating system!
I've been waiting for evasi0n and now it's appeared i just trustingly clicked upgrade to 6.1 on my phone. this put it into the recovery mode loop. when i've had this sort of problem in the past, tiny umbrella has instantly been able to kick it out and although it has stopped the upgrade, its left the phone working well.
I've checked out this 4.3 advice above, but it does seem to be for 4.3 and not 5.1
Any help would be appreciated
cjwj

---------- EDIT ----------

And i forgot to say I'm using a mac, so .exe files don't help much!
