I think he was wanting you to google textfreek to get you answer on that. I haven't heard anyone saying that they have found anything better than bite. I also haven't heard of textfreak tho.
---------- EDIT ----------
I prefer to install the deb manually as I keep a backup of them saved on my external hard drive. Thus making it easy to reinstall everything (or downgrade something if there is a problem) if I have to restore as I would have to enter all my repos again and wait for cydia. IMO its a lot better to just get the debs and do it all manually as I thank cydia can cause a lot of problems and its a hit or miss ordeal. You don't have to keep a backup of them you can just use safari download manager and download them to your phone an open them with ifile and takes two clicks to install as where you have to wait on cydia. Hope the helps you out.
---------- EDIT ----------
Here goes you the answers you are looking for about TextFreak. The reason it's not on the repo from what I can tell is because you have to uninstall bite are it will cause you problems.
* TextFreek integration (text for FREE!!!) - See biteSMS, Settings, TextFreek.
* iOS 4.3 compatibility.
* New feature for the default send method to be 'Remember per Contact'. Especially useful when you’d like to switch to using the biteSMS network for specific friends (say international or not included in your carriers unlimited plan).
* Added ringtone support for iOS 4.2.1 such that biteSMS now interacts correctly with the new iOS per contact ringtone feature.
* For biteSMS Ringtones (packaged or in directory structure) the volume is now reduced by 50% if headphones are plugged-in.
* With privacy set, the [Open] and [Call] buttons should display as active / inactive as expected.
* Fixed up bug when composing a new scheduled message it did not always show the scheduled clock icon.
