I have jailbreak my iPhone 3GS iOS 4.1 (8B117) and i would like to upgrade to jailbreak iOS 4.2 or 4.3. Is there anyway or possible for me to keep the current settings and apps that i have downloaded in jailbreak 4.1? If yes, can you guys advice how should i do it?

why do you want to upgrade to from 4.1 to 4.3, to buggy on 4.3

There are lots of posts about upgrade, search the forum or google it

Apparently there is not always an advantage in doing this. As far as I gather Apple often make quite dull alterations to the iOS whilst always updating security against Jailbreaking.

I would imagine the answer to your question would be to Jailbreak from scratch.
Though I also am curious on how you would get it back to just how you liked it pre-JB.
iTunes makes backups as normal, do these include all the Cydia stuff too?

Im new to Jailbreaking myself but glad I did so far. (love the repo source from this site)
Just wanted to post something so I don't get removed.

4.2.1 is better than 4.3.2......so go with 4.2.1, before you jailbreak transfer purchases by right clicking on your device in itunes and clicking "transfer purchases" that will backup all of your official apps. use apt backup to save your cydia apps. there are a bunch of tutorials on that in the forum.
