Check also that you have the latest Java update, run as administrator.
Sometimes the pc needs a reboot for TU to work

Strange 
Just tested mine, it works on v5.0.0
Did you reboot your pc? (if possible at the moment)
Could be also on your network settings, it does use them to dowload something... I don't know what exactly

Yeah I always get that's error when at school or using a proxy.. You may have updated the java recources but not the runtime? Try uninstalling everything to do with java (not programs that use java) and just re-installing

Maybe the file got corrupted during the download.... or the file was faulty to start with.
Have you played around with your computer's settings before using TinyUmbrella and getting this error?

Huh... have you tried running the file on a different computer entirely? I know navarhos tried it himself but maybe if you put the .exe on a USB port and put it on a different computer maybe or maybe not it will work...

Try disabling your Windows 7 firewall. Clear your cache too.

When you execute TinyUmbrella, check that it can write to your profile temp folder. Type this %temp% into the Start -> Search programs and files field, and press Enter. Your temp folder should open up by now, check through the temp folder whether has java wrote to this temp folder upon executed.

Try running TinyUmbralla in Windows XP mode with privilege level as Administrator. Right click to properties to change these settings.

Did you set Windows 7 to English language? Are you using folder names in English language without funny Characters (e.g. ~ or ! or $) that TinyUmbralla resides in?
