Overclock/underclock iPhone

Ok the original topic (How to Overclock/Underclock your iPhone or iPod touch running 3.0+ - SiNfuL iPhone) was closed and i wanted to share my findings on the whole under or overclocking and here are my results running SYSinfo shows my processor running 600MHZ no matter what i do to Fstab (iPhone 3gs), but my configuration in Fstab is:

su
alpine
sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency_max=700000000
sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency=650000000
sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency_min=600000000
/dev/disk0s1 / hfs rw 0 1
/dev/disk0s2 /private/var hfs rw 0 2

when i run SYSinfo i get this:

i ran it a day to see how it would pan out..look at the load average.

after running it on stock Fstab i get this:

so all in all i think it does something but not significantly, so no its not worth saying it works as an overclock or underclock! case closed!!!

Overclocking doesnt work, it has to be modified at boot level

Exactly, fstab is not a "script that runs before iOS". It's a informational file that the kernel uses to know where the filesystems are in the devtree, where to mount them, and what options to mount them with.
If I helped you, feel free to give thanks I love people that like the work I put in to help others.

Ok I'm assuming overclocking makes devices run faster??

But also can shorten the life of the product?

If you want your iPhone to run faster why not try fastclockup in Cydia?

Or are you looking to try something else?

Aha.

You admit it that the other thread is locked .

Dont you think this is for a reason ? Oh there was a reason , it pissed me off reading so much crab about the placebo effect that people reported back about the succuessful use of the tut that was made.

And only some not noobs fellow members who knew that this wont work or better cant work @ all if you have a certain knowledge and the noobs were only bashing and flaming on each other ,that was a fun for a certain time but all good thing need to end or they arent good or worth to mention it.

I was more then active in this thread back in time to make sure people understand that the iphone 3g and all other devices after released is and was not not overclockable/ed anymore since the firmware 3.0 was released. That firmware relese killed the option to overclock the idevice via mobile terminal.

Before it was simply possible via mobile terminal via sysctrl command.

But since apple released the 3gs got a 800mhz cpu that clocks with 600mhz and theoretically the 3g should be able to perform with the same speed as the 3gs because the 3g got a arm6 cpu running arround 413mhz that is underclocked but also able to clock with max 600 mhz.

So what did apple it locked the mobile terminal command in the kernel .

And as long as no one removes the locked command there is no overclocking possible and b4 i go through that hassle again about such an @ the end irrelevant thrad iam gonna lock this thread because my above counted points are facts.

Thread closed .
