URGENT! TinyUmbrella Permissions Help!

to keep it plain and short. im trying to update my iphone so i started up tinyumbrella but it gave me the error "host file unwritable.. blah blah blah." i searched it on google and people said you need to run it as an administrator. my computer user that i was using was an admin but i just went ahead and tried "Run as.." and logged onto the "Administrator" account but then it gave me the error "Windows cannot access the specific device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." im no stranger to restoring with tinyumbrella and using the tss server but this time tinyumbrella just spit out this error..

Use an account with full Administrator's rights, and type the following command in your command prompt.

Quote:
attrib -h -s -a -r "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\HOSTS"

This file has no file extension, just create a file and name it as HOSTS in the said directory, and add the following line in the HOSTS file.

Quote:
127.0.0.1 localhost

Whoa. Thats so weird. I remember the first time i ever edited the hosts file its file type was a file. But now the file type turned into a .ics.. A calendar file. For some reason i thought it was a .txt file so today i changed it to .txt. Ill go back and retry. Thanks. Also when i edit the hosts file it just reverts back after a system reboot. And i did uncheck the read only box.

AWESOME! that did the trick. I guess a ton of viruses/trojans i removed last month fycked the hosts file up.

The hosts.ics is a text file for Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, so don't change anything.
