[GUIDE] T-Mobile MMS - From iOS 4.2.1 to 5.01
If you are looking to update your device to iOS 5.01, visit here.
_______________________________________________________
T-Mobile MMS - Still working From iOS 4.2.1 to 5.01
1. Use a FTP Client, and FTP into the phone
2. Navigate to " /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/ "
3. Drop "com.apple.mms_override" in that directory, and overwrite the file in there.
com.apple.mms_override.plist
4. Reboot your phone, and double check the settings (Settings > General > Networks > Cellular Data Network)
5. They should read as follows, if they say otherwise just update the fields
***Note: If this configuration doesn't work, try switching "epc.tmobile.com" to "wap.voicestream.com"
If you do not have a data plan

T-Mobile customer support instructed me to leave data roaming on and cellular data off if you don't have a data plan. When data roaming is enabled it increases range to pick up more "shared" cell towers.

I hacktivated my 3GS using redsn0w and all, but I enabled location services and now i have the wifi and carrier signal issue, and now I am thinking about activating it again.
I know redsn0w has a 'deactivate' feature, and I would have to use SAM because I use ultrasn0w to unlock the iPhone, but what would I have to do? Install SAM before deactivating, deactivating then installing SAM, i'm not sure...?

If you disable your locations service, and reboot your phone, the service issue wont happen.
Just keep it disabled until ultrasn0w releases a new version or a patch. No point for it when the GPS doesn't work anyhow.
Install SAM, set it up. THEN Deactivate the phone. Plug in, and then let iTunes activate.
I switched SAM to AT&T by manually selecting, and then letting it activate. Seems to activate quicker.

its better to use epc.tmobile.com VS wap.voicestream.com
also if you have an old ATT sim card, you can use that instead of SAM.
nice TUT tho for people without a ATT sim.

I haven't been able to test push notifications yet but so far the MMS settings worked flawlessly.

19. Open "SAM" under "Utilties" select "De-Activate iPhone", "Revert lockdown", and then select "Restore Activation"
20. Plug into iTunes, and wait for activation.
-If you get a iTunes Error saying invalid sim, go back into "SAM" and make sure "Auto Detect" is selected at the main menu.
-Once your phone loads up in iTunes, check SAM under "More Information" & look for Activation Status to read "WildcardActivated"
|
Under activation status it should read Unactivated before you open iTunes.
Thats where iTunes will activate. Now if you should get an error... go back into SAM and make sure Method has "AutoDetect" on it

I already have ultrasn0w installed, do I have to uninstall it before deactivating?

No, its fine to keep it on.
Just run the steps to activate
Quote:
-Once your phone loads up in iTunes, check SAM under "More Information" & look for Activation Status to read "WildcardActivated"
|
and you should be fine

Hello livewire,
which OS you used to jailbreak and unlock your iphone ?
is it tethered or untethered jailbreak?
Currently, I'm on iPhone 3GS 4.0.1, baseband 05.13.04, will it work?
Thank you

Use the thanks button, and yes for the iTunes. When you go to restore and chose the iOS 5 Custom Firmware, you'll get an error...it wont be able to reconize the firmware and the version.
