1) Jailbreak the iphone 3GS on iOS 5.0.1.

2) Make sure Ultrasn0w is NOT installed, if it is, uninstall and reboot. Remove SIM just in case...

3) Replace old CommCenterClassic at /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support with newly-patched iOS 5.0 version from link above. (sorry, forum will not allow me to post links yet...)
This is done by SSHing to the device from your Mac/Linux box. Install OpenSSH on phone if needed, and remember to change from default password (alpine)(command passwd) if you do.

4) Run "ldid -s CommCenterClassic" and "chmod +x CommCenterClassic" in MobileTerminal on iPhone or via SSH from your Mac/Linux box as root user (Command: su).

5) Double-check that the permissions for the patched file are set to 755.

6) Install Ultrasn0w, reboot device, insert SIM and hope for the best.

Have iOS 5.0.1 with Ultrasn0w 1.2.4 on old bootrom iPhone 3GS with iPad BaseBand (06.15.00).

if you use a pc then download sn0wbreez v2.8b11 and make cfw activated. restore, boot with ibooty look for it on your desktop. follow the fix and boot with ibooty. use sam to fix notice. and battery. work for me. i have an 3gs 16gb new boot 6.15.00, ios 5.0.1.

forget it. i tested it myself. gps doesnt get improved on 5.0.1 bb6.15. too. Everything else perfect. Battery so far is so much better than on 4.3.1. Ultrasn0w in combination with manual fix is excellent. Thanks for the guides.

and use ultranow and it will work without this fix
ultrasnow worls correctly on ios5.0

ifaith 1.4 from i8snow only work if u on ios 5.0 (can restore back to 5.0 without apple signing) . If u upgrade to ios 5.01 u cannot downgrade to 5.0 anymore.
